German children's apparel maker Sanetta has purchased the QuestPLM product lifecycle management solution and DesignTime software from Canadian IT firm Geac.

QuestPLM, scheduled to go live in March 2004, is expected to help reduce errors and delays in Sanetta's product development and pre-production processes.

DesignTime, meanwhile, will aid the company's 27 designers and product developers to improve global collaboration.

Both solutions are expected to improve communication with Sanetta's suppliers in Asia, as well as improve knowledge and decision-making capabilities within the company, through the use of a centralised database.

"We were looking for a flexible system, specifically tailored to the apparel industry," Sanetta managing director Dr Steffen Ammann said.

"The PLM system is both flexible and user-friendly and is completely designed for the apparel and footwear industry.

"This, combined with Geac's thorough knowledge of the international apparel industry and its track record with similar companies, led us to choose Geac."
