Luxury online retailer Gilt Groupe has signed a deal with Banana Republic to sell some of its Mad Men series-inspired apparel collection.

Following the news of the launch of the Mad Men collection by the Gap-owned fashion retail chain, Gilt Groupe is to offer customers key pieces from the Mad Men capsule collection weeks prior to the clothes hitting Banana Republic stores and online.

"We are thrilled to work with Banana Republic on this exclusive opportunity to offer our members a first-look and the ability to purchase the brand's first 'Mad Men' series-inspired capsule collection," said GiltMAN general manager, John Auerbach.

The special full-price sale will launch on Gilt.com on 25 July.

The men's collection includes knitted sweaters, tailored suiting and fitted trousers, as well as classic accessories. The women's pieces feature tailored dresses, high-waisted skirts, silk tie-neck blouses and accessories including print scarves and leopard print pump heels.

"Accessible luxury is something both Banana Republic and Gilt Groupe deliver, so this partnership was a natural fit," said Banana Republic chief marketing officer, Catherine Sadler.

"As a retailer ourselves, this is the first time Banana Republic has ever pre-viewed and sold a collection outside of our own channels, and we're excited to see how customers respond," Sadler added. 

This news follows the announcement in June that Banana Republic is launching a collection of men’s wear and women’s wear pieces based on the successful Mad Men television series, following a deal with AMC.

More than 60 articles of apparel and accessories have been designed by the retailer and Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant, and will be stocked in Banana Republic’s North America stores and online from 11 August.

The collections include men’s knit sweaters, tailored suit separates and fitted trousers, plus accessories; and women’s trench coats, tailored dresses, high-waisted skirts, silk tie-neck blouses and accessories.
