Globe International, the maker of boardsports apparel and equipment, has posted a drop in its annual profit and sales, influenced by fragility in the North American market early on in the year.

Full-year net profit was A$471,000 (US$354,135) in the fiscal year ended 30 June compared to $3.6m last year.

Revenue was $197.3m during the year compared to $204.5m a year ago.

Despite poor first-quarter results in North America, the business has done well since then, chief executive Matt Hill said.

The Globe brand has seen "consistent growth" in the number of footwear units sold in Australia, Europe and North America, Hill added.

Globe said discussions over possible strategies for the business were continuing and that it expects to make recommendations to its board soon.
