The Japanese government is to launch an investigation into alleged dumping of polyester fibres into the Japanese market by South Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers.

In a joint statement from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, the government revealed that it had received calls from Japanese producers asking for measures to be taken against the imports.

The statement also revealed that the government had found enough evidence to support an inquiry into the dumping allegations.

The investigation will follow closely to the guidelines set out by the World Trade Organisation, and should be completed within a year.
