Billionaire retail entrepreneur Philip Green on Tuesday appointed Ian Grabiner as Arcadia's new chief operating officer.

Mr Grabiner will replace chief executive Stuart Rose who will step down from his role at the owner of brands such as TopShop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins at the end of next week.

The 43-year-old recently ran retail group GUS' distribution and call centre units having previously held senior executive positions with sportswear chain Sports Division and women's apparel retailer What Everyone Wants.

Mr Green, who forked out £850 million for Arcadia in Septmeber, said: "Ian is going to be working with brand directors to help them manage the business more effectively."
