Britain's Environment Agency has held a seminar to help the textile and tanning industries in their applications for Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) permits.

The IPPC directive is designed to prevent, reduce and eliminate pollution at source through the efficient use of natural resources. It is intended to help industrial operators move towards greater environment sustainability.

Following the seminar in Leeds, agency spokesman Chris Smith said he was delighted with the "positive attitude that the industry is taking towards a new and challenging piece of legislation".
