Textile giant Guilford Mills has decided not to renew its membership of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI) despite its late chairman Chuck Hayes being a former president of the industry group.

According to trade publication Southern Textile News, Hayes informed the ATMI of his decision shortly before his sudden death in July.

Guilford is instead now involved with a trade group formed last month through the merger of the Northern Textile Association and the Knitted Textile Association (KTA). Guilford CEO John Emrich is currently president of the KTA.
