British men's wear retailer Hackett has opened its first stand-alone store in Tokyo's up-market and stylish Maranouchi area near Tokyo Station.

Owned in partnership with Hackett founder Jeremy Hackett and a Spanish investment firm, Torreal, the company says it plans further expansion all over Japan once the domestic economy recovers.

It now has six other in-store outlets in Japan. "We are a brand with global potential," said Sven Gaede, Hackett's managing director.
