Haggar Clothing Co on Thursday said it shipped over 3.2 million units of its comfort fit waist pants through the holiday season - exceeding projections and boosting one of "the most difficult retail environments in years."

The pants feature a hidden waistband that expands and contracts with the wearer's body, and achieved "over 50 per cent higher sell-through rates than other pants in casual pant departments and over 40 per cent higher sell-through rates in dress pant departments," according to the company. They are sold at Belk, Federated department stores, JCPenney, Kohl's, May Co department stores and Mervyn's.

Frank Bracken, president and chief operating officer at Haggar Clothing Co, said: "Retailers have exceeded planned sell-through and average unit retail projections - making it a win-win situation for all of us."
