Haggar Clothing Co has promoted Alan Burks to the position of executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Since starting as senior vice president of marketing  in 1993, Burks has been responsible for all corporate marketing initiatives and with the position of executive vice president he will include Haggar Direct, the company's retail division, to his duties.

"Alan's promotion to chief marketing officer is a direct reflection of Haggar's brand growth and diversification strategy," said Frank Bracken, president and COO.

"We are confident in Alan and his team's ability to grow our business in today's highly competitive retail environment. Our recent initiatives in Haggar, private label and the DKNY and Claiborne licenses present Alan and the company with an outstanding formula for success."

Prior to joining Haggar, Burks had a distinguished career in the advertising industry where he worked for corporate giants such as Ogilvy and DDB Needham. His account management experience included Frito-Lay, the Ben Hogan Company, Dial Corp, and Haggar.
