T-shirts impregnated with asorbic acid which will provide the wearer with a daily dose of vitamin C are the latest Japanese casual wear novelty craze.

The producers of the fabric from which the shirt is made - Fuji Spinning - claim that simply wearing the garment next to the skin is equivalent to consuming two oranges day.

So popular has the idea become, however, that the manufacturers have now had to issue their own health warning on the garment label, pointing out that beneficial though the T shirt may be, it is no substitute for adopting generally sensible eating habits.
