• Q2 profit increased 8.2% to $25.1m versus $23.2m

Denim specialist The Buckle has recorded an 8.2% increase in second quarter profit, helped by higher sales in-store and online. 

The Kearney, Nebraska-based retailer, which operates 452 stores, saw net income reach US$25.1m for the 13 weeks to 3 August, compared to $23.2m in the same period of last year.

Sales grew 7.9% to $232.5m from $215.5m in the prior year, while comparable store sales rose 3.2%. Online sales reached $16.8m, up 5.3% on $16m last year.

Year-to-date net income climbed 2.8% to 62.7m from $61m the prior year, and sales grew 4.8% to $502.2m from $479.2m last year. Comparable store sales were up 2.2%.
