Shoe mail-order and retail firm Hiraki is to spend JPY600m (US$5.1m) on building a new distribution centre, reported Nikkei Net.

The centre will be located near Hiraki's main distribution base in Asago within western Japan's Hyogo prefecture. It will add to the company's distribution capacity by about 60%.

The three-storey building will have total floor space of 5,300 sq m and is due to be finished in autumn 2007.

The decision was reportedly down to increased sales of the company's low-priced shoes.
