Hirdaramani claims the BreathTech-S³ mask is the world's first sustainably designed smart face mask

Sri Lankan garment manufacturer Hirdaramani Group has partnered on what it claims is the world's first sustainably designed smart face mask to use respiration sensor technology.

The manufacturing giant has collaborated with the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) and CirQ Technologies to develop the BreathTech-S³ mask, which is manufactured using a combination of sustainably sourced, natural and biodegradable materials and features an advanced patent-pending graphene-based sensor that measures breathing rate, mask fit, carbon dioxide build-up and mask usage, all of which are accessible via a secure mobile app.

Made with 100% cellulose-based and biodegradable materials, the mask is said to have a truly sustainable footprint with the added benefit of responsible disposal instructions given in the app.

Its propriety sensor is connected to the BreathTech-S³ mobile application that provides information and alerts including a notification if you forget to wear your mask. Notifications are also sent via the app to inform wearers of potential risk markers based on breathing rate and can advise the wearer to adjust the mask for a better fit along with reminders to breathe in some fresh air based on CO2 buildup levels.
