German research and testing firm the Hohenstein Institute today (9 December) opened a laboratory in Hong Kong to cater to increased demand for higher quality materials that add value to textile products.

The laboratory at Hong Kong Science Park is an attempt by the Institute to meet customer demand for additional laboratory resources in Asia.

"Hong Kong has a strong research and development base in textile and clothing technologies...that is why we chose Hong Kong to establish our subsidiary company," said Dr Manfred Hirning, managing director of Hohenstein Laboratories (HK) Ltd.

The Hohenstein Institute offers research, development, testing and certification of textile materials and products, as well as onsite inspection of production facilities.
