UK department store group House of Fraser has confirmed the hiring of former Marks & Spencer executive David Seeby as its new digital director.

Seeby will cover some of the remit of former global multichannel director Martin Francis, who left a year ago, reports suggest.

"We are delighted to welcome David Seeby as digital director of House of Fraser," says chief customer officer David Walmsley. "David worked with me at M&S where he was head of merchandising and analytics. His experience and expertise will be invaluable as we drive the business' on-going transformation."

During his tenure at M&S, Seeby also served as head of user experience and studio, and head of M&S.com operations (customer engagement).

Last month, House of Fraser expanded into China, opening its first store in the country on 22 December in a move it called a "strong finish" to 2016.
