Invensys Intelligent Automation (IA) announced that on-line buyers now can share shopping baskets electronically at its iastore.com (www.iastore.com). The feature, called TeamBuy(SM), allows a shopping basket to be created and passed on from person to person across a customer's organization.

"Another automation industry first, TeamBuy's patent pending technology supports iastore.com's goal of providing a seamless interface with our customers' team purchasing processes," said Bruce Henderson, Division Chief Executive, Invensys Intelligent Automation. "This unique capability matches the specify-select-approve-and-order process that involves several people in the customer's organization."

The company said the new feature streamlines on-line purchasing and supports greater collaboration in procurement decisions. The shared shopping basket also reduces internal paperwork and controls maverick buying. This new feature works particularly well with iastore.com's extranet capability that can create a custom e-commerce portal for each customer.

To use TeamBuy, users can create procurement teams in advance or on the fly that have access to a shared basket. A color-coded status feature allows the basket owner to determine whether the contents may be edited, available for check out, or read-only. Basket ownership can be transferred within the team. Users can designate as many teams as they want, and as many baskets as they want within each team. As baskets pass through the teams, specifiers, authorizers and reviewers can add comments.

Authorized users can create a procurement team involving anyone with Internet access and an iastore.com account. In addition to internal approvals, a user might share a basket with an outside subcontractor who is building a subsystem, or an IA sales engineer who can review configurations based on sales history and performance improvement initiatives.
