Danish clothing firm IC Companys has joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), which works to reduce the environmental and social impacts of global apparel and footwear production.

IC Companys said it will contribute to a more transparent and sustainable fashion industry, which will benefit customers, suppliers and brands.

Members of SAC also include apparel and footwear brands such as Marks & Spencer, H&M, Inditex, Levi Stauss & Co and Esprit, as well as suppliers and NGOs.

"We see membership of SAC as an opportunity to take our work one step further and be a part of defining the rules of the game," said CEO Niels Mikkelsen.

"We believe that cooperating to find common solutions is the way forward instead of all of us developing our own initiatives which frustrates suppliers and creates confusion with consumers."
