Implus Footcare LLC, which makes components and accessories for performance footwear, is taking a step into the outdoor sports channel with the acquisition of Yaktrax, the developer of snow and ice traction devices.

"Yaktrax is an ideal brand to add to our portfolio," said Seth Richards, Implus CEO. "We plan to rapidly expand the brand through our global sales, distribution and marketing platform."

Yaktrax joins the Implus range of "below the ankle" footwear accessory brands including Sof Sole, Airplus, apara and Sof Comfort.

With the new brand on board, Implus expects its total revenues to approach US$70m for fiscal year 2006.
