Retailer Inditex has launched its new logistics platform in León in the presence of Juan Vicente Herrera, President of the Junta de Castilla-León, and Pablo Isla, deputy chairman and CEO of Inditex.

Herrera pointed out that the implementation of new infrastructures is bringing added value to the region, as well as opening up new job opportunities.

Inditex last year purchased several plots spreading over 66,000 m2 at Onzonillas Industrial Estate with an investment of EUR15m (US$19.03m).

The company currently employs 100 staff at the new premises and is expected to gradually add on 100 more.

Inditex is also planning a new distribution centre in Meco, Madrid, in 2007. The new platforms are part of the Logistics Development Plan that Inditex is implementing, aimed at ensuring that the distribution capacity of the company is kept in line with the expansion of its eight commercial formats.
