Textile and garment groups within the Philippines have agreed to back the government's proposals for a reform package to include productivity-based quotas on exports to the USA, reports Asia Pulse.

Representatives from the Confederation of Garment Exporters of the Philippines, Garment Business Association of the Philippines, Association of the Philippines and Children's Apparel Association of the Philippines all met with Trade Secretary Manuel A Roxas III to agree the new package.

The new proposals will see the phasing out of non-performing quota holders and an increase for those who met their quotas in past three years, and those who shifted to medium-end and high-end products.
