McLeod Accessories, a major Australian supplier of motorcycle clothing and accessories, is investing around AUD500,000 (US$377,400) in a new enterprise application solution from Intentia Australia.

The application suite will cover finance, sales, procurement, warehousing and distribution.

McLeod Accessories is a national wholesale accessories supplier to the motorcycle industry, representing some of the world's leading motorcycle accessory brands.

The company is a division of the Repco Corporation, Australia and New Zealand's largest reseller and supplier to the aftermarket automotive industry, with over 455 stores across the region.

"We are very much aligned to the fashion market and, as such, needed a solution that is closely attuned to the quite specific requirements of our industry segment and our business size.

"We supply a huge range of products, from motorcycle helmets, gloves, clothing and so on to aftermarket motorcycle parts such as chains and exhausts," said Ian Edridge, purchasing and inventory manager, McLeod Accessories.

"Having a system that can help us manage the many product SKUs and variables common to fashion operations (such as colour, style and size matrix) is critical," he continued.

The Intentia solution is supported by the IBM iSeries solution, providing an open, scalable hardware platform that offers increased reliability and stability for the new enterprise system.

"Once Intentia Application Suite is in place, we will be able to create more efficient ordering processes by developing Web-enabled remote order entry capabilities, which also enhances customer services.

"We can improve inventory management and distribution processes through planning and forecasting tools, and also the ability to manage size and colour variants in apparel products," Edridge concludes.
