In line with the numerous factory closings in Honduras in recent months is the "temporary suspension of labour" of International Fashions Group, one of the largest Honduran-owned apparel manufacturers in the country.

Sewing primarily for Levi Strauss & Co, International Fashions produces for Levi's, Cintas Uniform and Target, among others, and has a state-of-the-art production and finishing facility that was built for Levi's.

International Fashions Group initially stated that it had not closed operations and that the banks and employees had not taken any legal measures to freeze the company's assets in Honduras.

But president Eduardo Leiva later told just-style.com that the company is "in a temporary suspension of labour that should be over in the next two to three weeks."

Levi Strauss & Co headquarters in San Francisco, California, declined to comment.
