Testing and certification firm Intertek has become what is thought to be the first third-party laboratory in Indonesia accredited to provide both lead and small parts testing under the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).

Testing procedures will include children's textiles and textile-based products.

The CPSIA, which came into force on 10 February this year, aims to limit the amount of lead and phthalates (chemicals commonly found in plastics) found in a range of items including apparel and footwear on sale in the US.
