Textile group Invista is set to launch two new nylon innovations to branded apparel manufacturers and retailers.

One of these, Tactel, is a fine filament product designed for warp knitting applications.

The other, Supplex Micro, is a lightweight and mercerized yarn available for both warp knit and circular knit purposes.

While Tactel's comfortable feel and long-lasting fit is expected to appeal to the swimwear industry, Supplex Micro's cotton-like softness and lightweight nature is highly suited to intimate apparel applications.

Both benefit from Invista's Lycra stretch fibre.

"We are committed to market innovations linked to our brands," Invista apparel president Bill Ghitis said.

"Bringing new products like these specialty nylon fibres to market represent differentiation for our customers and are responsive to consumer interest."

According to the company, select branded programs for Tactel in swimwear and Supplex Micro in intimates will be eligible for co-marketing support and able to participate in the Lycra global brand "Has It" advertising campaign for 2005.
