Turkish women's wear brand Ipekyol is going global. The company is planning to open stores in famous fashion centres such as New York, Paris and London.

General manager Zafer Mericler says the company intends to open chains across Europe starting with Greece.

Ipekyol, which designs, produces and markets its own fashionable women's wear products, will be able to expand in both local and global markets as a result of its newly integrated clothing plant.

Construction started last year said Mericler, adding that: "The new plant will be operational in January of 2006, and has a production capacity of one million pieces.

"Our initial employment capacity will be 250-300 people. In a few years, this number will reach 1,000 workers, thanks to capacity increases every six-months."

Ipekyol will mainly produce trousers, jackets, coats and overcoats at the plant. When the factory reachs full capacity, half of its production will be exported.
