Italian customs authorities recently intercepted two sizeable shipments of fake Lycra merchandise.

One of the shipments was made up of 167,000 pairs of counterfeit tights which orginated in China and were bound for Sicily. The second shipment - a batch of 155 packages containing false Lycra women’s shirts - had been dispatched from the UK to the Italian city of Prato.

Reacting to the seizures, a senior official of polymers and fibres producer, Invista, which owns the Lycra’s  trademark, said the company would "continue to pursue its efforts to prevent the production, distribution and illegal trade in our brand".
