Perry Ellis International's newly acquired Jantzen Inc distribution centre has taken delivery of Manhattan Associates' supply chain execution solution, PkMS.

The implementation at Jantzen's 300,000 square-foot distribution centre in Seneca, SC was completed in just two and a half months and will enable Perry Ellis International (PEI) to manage its future distribution needs as it continues to grow organically and through future acquisitions.

When PEI acquired Jantzen Inc in March 2002, Jantzen was operating with in-house mainframes and a legacy warehouse management system. PEI's access to these systems was due to cease just three months after its acquisition.

From its Seneca DC, Jantzen, the recognized innovator in swimwear since 1910, ships to 10,500 retailer doors in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Glenn Shapanka, vice president of logistics systems for Perry Ellis International, said: "Taking the Jantzen facility through a complete business transformation in two and a half month's time with virtually no interruption of day-to-day business was a huge undertaking."

Manhattan Associates' execution solution will enable the company to more effectively manage and streamline its order fulfilment and invoicing processes. In addition, the company will gain the scalability it was lacking to efficiently handle order fulfilment for its growing product lines, which include year-round casual "resort lifestyle" clothing in addition to its swimwear products. PkMS' flexibility also will enable Jantzen to reduce its order fulfilment times.
