Spanish women's fashion retailer Simorra plans to invest €3 million to open up to 15 shops in the US by 2007, a company spokesman has confirmed to just-style.com.

Simorra, led by Barcelona designer Javier Simorra, is set to open its first 186 square metre store in the Dallas, Texas Willowbend mall on September 15, the spokesman said.

That will be followed by the roll-out of one shop in Shore Hills, New Jersey, and another store in Connecticut.

Simorra also plans to open up to 12 shops in markets in New York, Washington, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Miami and 15 department store corners in the next three years.

With offices in Manhattan, the company already operates as a wholesaler in the US with clients such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Overall Simorra hopes to obtain sales of €18 million in the American market by 2007, up from forecast turnover of €1.56 million this year.

Javier Simorra, which is owned by Catalan retail holding Symor Linea, sells a full range of upmarket female clothing, accessories and shoes through multi-brand distributors and its own stores in Spain and in Europe. It has annual sales of €30 million and employs 240 people.
