US department store operator JC Penney Company is aiming to grow its sourcing of clothing and textiles from India by five times from $150 million to $800m by 2009, according to Business Standard newspaper.
The newspaper quoted a senior JC Penny official as saying: "Though JC Penny is adding more and more vendors from all parts of the world, India still remains as favourite outsourcing destination for global retail m ajors due to easy availability of material and better product development abilities".

JC Penney has partnerships with more than 30 retailers in the Indian region.
