JC Penney Corporation has announced the voluntary recall of around 24,000 Arizona Newborn and Infant Denim Pants in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

It said that consumers should stop using recalled products immediately, and return them to any JCPenney store for a full refund.

A statement said that the metal snap at the waist can detach posing a choking hazard to infants - although no incidents or injuries have yet been reported.

The pants were sold in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-9 months, and sold at JCPenney stores throughout the US and online from July to October 2008 for about $15.

Only those pants made in Bangladesh are affected, the company said, with pants made in China not included in the recall.
