Luxury fashion brand Jimmy Choo has settled plagiarism disputes with a number of UK high street firms, according to a press report.

The Independent on Sunday reported yesterday (11 November) that Choo had most recently settled out-of-court with Warehouse over a black "clutch" bag, called the Marin. The high-street chain allegedly copied the design, which is favoured by high class celebrities, but agreed to pay out nearly GBP14,000 (US$28,900) in damages and destroy its versions.

A spokesman told the Independent that it was "mortified" by what had happened and takes allegations such allegations seriously.

The newspaper went on to say that Jimmy Choo has also scored high-profile victories against other UK retailers in the past year, including M&S in December 2006.
