Wedding apparel designer, manufacturer and marketer, JLM Couture Inc, on Friday posted a slight rise in third quarter net profit and sales.

The New York-based company, whose lines include Occasions and Lazaro, said net income for the 13 weeks ended July 31 edged up to $7.62 million from $7.52m in the year-ago period.

Sales for the latest quarter rose to $481,000, or 24 cents per diluted share, as compared to $475,000, or 23 cents a diluted share, reported for the like quarter in fiscal 2002.

President and CEO, Joseph Murphy, said JLM's modest revenue growth was a result of the less than robust retail environment for upscale merchandise.

He noted its product lines are being well received and believes sales should grow as the economy strengthens and activity at bridal retail stores increases.
