Active fashion company Joules Clothing said annual profits and revenue leapt on a growing brand awareness.

Full-year pre-tax profits jumped 133% to GBP1.3m (US$2.44m) while revenue was up 83% to GBP10.9m in the year.

In the seven months since the year-end turnover has exceeded GBP8.5m, an increase
of 28% year on year, Joules added.

Finance director Bella Hollinshead said: "These strong results provide clear evidence of the company's growing success in a challenging retail climate. 

"We are pleased with current trading and the growth in our brand awareness.  We are now in a strong position to exploit further market opportunities."

The company, headed by entrepreneurial managing director Tom Joule, is looking to the US and Europe for future expansion. Exports in the last financial year rose by 235% to GBP238,829 from GBP71,267
