Following new business wins with leading high street retailer Marks & Spencer, the Coventry facility of Joint Retail Logistics has been established as the dedicated central distribution operation for the retailer's latest UK Outlet stores.

Created as a joint venture between Tibbett & Britten and Excel, Joint Retail Logistics already manages collections from suppliers of all Marks & Spencer's general merchandise products.

In response to the growth experienced over the last 12 months the company has contstructed a 40,000 square foot mezzanine floor within the 90,000 square foot Coventry warehouse - which has created over 50 new jobs. Store delivery operations are being handled by the 1240 JRL vehicle fleet.

Located at the heart of M&S's distribution network, the site is responsible for dedicated stock management, picking and distribution to Outlet stores - plus value-added services such as re-labelling and re-pricing for clothing products.

Speaking at an official opening ceremony in November, Michael Stainer, head of Marks & Spencer Outlet, said that the company has expanded its business from start-up to nine Outlet stores over the past year - and has more in the pipeline.
