Apparel brand Juicy Couture is to launch into Asia via a tie-up with the Lane Crawford Joyce Group.

Lane Crawford Joyce, a top global brand group, will hold exclusive distribution rights for the Juicy Couture in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Lane Crawford will work closely with the brand to position and expand its presence in the region.

Over the first four years of the agreement, the firm will open 24 free-standing retail stores as well as 23 shop-in-shops. The majority of the stores will be opened in Greater China, with 36 doors across the Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Juicy Couture co-president Gela Taylor said: "Limiting Juicy Couture's wholesale distribution in the US has always been a key element of our long-term growth strategy, and Juicy has prospered under very select, very exclusive distribution.

"We expect a substantial portion of the future growth for the brand to come from international expansion as well as accessories, brand extensions, licensing and a focus on specialty retail in the US We are thrilled to partner with Bonnie Brooks and her team to bring our Juicy world to Asia."

Trudy Sullivan, president of Juicy's owner Liz Claiborne, said: "International expansion is a key element of our growth plan for Liz Claiborne and moving into China/Asia is an important component.

"The Lane Crawford Joyce Group was one of the first firms to enter the China market in 1992 and has a long history working with luxury brands in the region. We anticipate they will be an invaluable partner as we introduce one of our most visible brands into the region."

1994-established Juicy specialises in casual lifestyle clothing. The brand was bought by Liz Claiborne in 2003.

Liz Claiborne's CEO Paul Charron recently told just-style there were good opportunities for the Juicy brand in the UK.
