Apparel retailer Just Group, which has reported a 4.1 per cent full-year profit increase, says it is looking to make acquisitions this year to boost its current portfolio of six brands.

The company says it would preferably want to acquire a profitable fashion business that can be easily turned around.

Just Group reported profit of AUD41.6 million for the year ended 30 July compared with AUD40.0m last year but said second-half trading had been negatively impacted by warm weather.

Full-year sales totalled AUD636.6m compared with sales of AUD622.5m last year.

The company, which sounded an optimistic note for this financial year after seeing good signs for summer trading, said it increased its number of stores from 686 to 729 last year.

Just Group's brands include Portman, Just Jeans and Jacqui E.
