Leading US-based fashion designer Kenneth Cole announced on Thursday his company had signed a deal to supply staff uniforms to employees of W Hotels.

Described as "sophisticated urban attire", Cole's unique designs will be showcased at W's 16 hotels in the United States, beginning with W Chicago - Lakeshore.

The agreement, which represents Cole's first hotel partnership, will see W Hotels' male employees don charcoal pinstriped pants with black button down dress shirts or turtlenecks.

Female employees will wear similar charcoal pinstriped pants and a sexy sleeveless matte jersey drape front shirt in black and a leather blazer.

"The alignment is perfect for us,'' Kenneth Cole said. "W Hotels' modern design and sophisticated atmospheres are a great place to showcase our uniform designs.

"The outfits we create represent a dramatic departure from the stoic uniforms that hotel employees have traditionally worn. After all, we are both in the same business of knowing what is INN.''

Barry Sternlicht, CEO of the hotel group's parent company, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc, added: "Our associates will work in cool clothes they would wear on their own time. They will look great, feel great, and this will translate into better service to our guests."
