Fashion giant Polo Ralph Lauren Corp on Monday named the former president of AnnTaylor Stores Corp, Kim Roy, as president of its Lauren Brands unit as it looks to strengthen its leadership team.

The New York-based company said Roy more than doubled the operating profit of the Ann Taylor brand during her two years at the retailer which she joined after serving a five year stint at Liz Claiborne.

It also named Benny Lin, formerly corporate senior vice president of Jones Apparel Group Inc, senior vice president of Lauren Brands' merchandising and manufacturing.

The pair will run the Lauren line the clothing company recently acquired from Jones Apparel Group Inc in an ongoing legal battle. Both appointments are effective immediately.

"We are excited about the tremendous growth opportunity Lauren represents for our company and are pleased to announce a strong team to lead our efforts," said Ralph Lauren, chairman and CEO, in a news release.

"Kim is one of the most talented wholesale and retail executives and her record of success in establishing and growing women's businesses makes her the perfect leader of this important business.

"I am confident that she and her team have the talent to build, manage and grow the Lauren line for long-term, profitable performance."
