Kimora Lee Simmons, president and creative director of the Baby Phat women's wear brand, has been promoted to the new post of creative director for Phat Fashions in addition to her current responsibilities.

The announcement by Robert C Skinner Jr, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kellwood Company which owns the Phat Fashions brands, follows the resignation last week of Phat Fashions' founder and CEO Russell Simmons.

Skinner said Kimora "will have the oversight of the creative direction for both the Baby Phat and Phat Farm family of brands.

"Her business savvy and understanding of the Phat Fashions' brands and consumer following are very valuable to the company as we continue to build the aura of Phat worldwide."

Russell Simmons founded the Phat and Phat Farm brands in 1992 and added the Baby Phat line in 1999. Kimora was Russell Simmons' business partner for many years.
