French company Dim, part of the Dim Branded Apparel (DBApparel) group, has signed an agreement with Kindy to make, distribute and market its range of socks, effective 1 July 2009.

A new company, Dim Chaussette, 100%-owned by sock maker Kindy, has been specifically set up to handle the licence.

Kindy will replace another French manufacturer, Tricotage des Vosges, which has held the Dim licence for the past decade.

The company and Dim could not reach agreement on the terms and conditions of the licence's renewal.

"Thanks to its experience and distribution network, the Kindy group offers a guarantee of swift international development and the undertaking that the transfer will be carried out in respect of the [Dim] brand in terms of the quality, accessibility of its collections," Dim said.

Tricotage des Vosges will seek to compensate for the loss of the licence through the launch of its own products sold via European supermarket channels under the Bleu Forêt brand.
