Boot maker LaCrosse Footwear Inc today (26 September) said it has received a new $15.4m order from the United States Marine Corps for its Danner branded USMC Rugged All-Terrain (RAT) hot weather boot.

"The USMC RAT Hot has been used in the mountains of Afghanistan since 2007 and remains the proven leader in its category," according to LaCrosse Footwear president and CEO Joseph Schneider.

The boot is constructed with full-grain leather and tear resistant 1000 Denier nylon. A rugged Vibram 360 outsole integrated with Dri-Ice compound delivers flexibility and traction in mountainous terrain. It also features moisture wicking Sea Breeze lining with quick draining medial vent holes for superior breathability.

Durable polyurethane impregnated leather surrounds the heel and toe to protect against abrasion and damage from rock and scree. These boots are produced in the company's new world-class manufacturing facility located in Portland, Oregon.
