LaFraise.com, which specialises in the on-line sale of limited-edition, original graphic design T-shirts, has been acquired by German counterpart Spreadshirt, via an unidentified Ireland-based company.

Founded at the beginning of 2004 by Patrice Cassard, LaFraise.com invites designers to submit their works to the site within the framework of an on-going visual contest.

The winners, who are selected on the basis of site visitors' votes, are offered EUR1,000 (US$1,285) for their designs which are then printed on to cotton T-shirts made by California-based American Apparel.
 .
LaFraise.com's annual turnover is expected to total a little over EUR1.5 m.

Set up in Leipzig, in  2002, Spreadshirt is an editor of customised T-shirts as well as other clothing articles such as baseball caps, underwear and  scarves.
