Lectra and Eastman Machine Company have settled a patent infringement action relating to the use of Lectra's 'Eclipse' non-stop cutting process.

The action was brought by Lectra against Eastman and its distributor, Sewn Products, in October 2008, in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

In the settlement, Eastman acknowledged the validity of Lectra's patent and, while not admitting infringement of the patent, has agreed not to use Lectra's Eclipse feature in its future conveyorised cutting systems.

The parties did not disclose other terms of the settlement.
