Ex Officio is being forced to withdraw its BugAway mosquito repellent outdoor clothing line for 2003 because it doesn't conform to EPA registration.

According to EPA regulations, registration is required based on the specific repellent formulation - even though individual components are already EPA registered.

Ex Officio says that until it has this registration it will not apply the new mosquito repellent component to the collection as planned. Early deliveries of BugAway were slated for Holiday 2002 with subsequent deliveries scheduled throughout spring 2003.

"We are very disappointed by this recent development, but have responded with urgency to ensure that the BugAway cancellation will have minimal impact on our dealers," says Rick Hemmerling, president of Seattle-based Ex Officio.
