Lenzing AG has launched a new soft, high performance variant of its Modal man-made cellulose fibre that can be used in 100% form in knitwear and in blends with cotton.

ProModal combines Modal with a specially developed Tencel fibre, which are blended gram by gram.

The product is said to be an environmental alternative to cotton, with a yield that is  six times higher than that of cotton and water consumption which is 10-20 times lower.

Yarn manufacturers Karsu Tekstil from Turkey and Samil Spinning from Korea have been involved in its development.
