Levi Strauss' Philippines division has reportedly failed in its trademark suit against jeans manufacturer Lewis Strong for designs that are "confusingly similar" to its own denim brand.

The country's Court of Appeals dismissed the case for lack of merit, saying there was an "immense dissimilarity" in the appearance of the jeans, with regard to the marks and names of their respective manufacturers.

San Fransisco-based Levi was not immediately available to comment on the story.
