Leading apparel designer and marketer, Liz Claiborne Inc, said on Wednesday it had completed the acquisition of privately-held fashion apparel and accessories firm Mexx Canada Inc.

In a short statement, Liz Claiborne declined to reveal how much it had paid for the Montreal-based company which operates as a third party distributor in Canada for its Mexx business and recorded sales of C$83 million last year.

It added the Mexx brand is distributed through Mexx Canada in all Canadian provinces, with around 70 per cent of its sales generated through its retail business and 30 per cent through its wholesale business.

When New York-based Liz Claiborne first announced the deal last month, it said it expected the acquisition to add one or two cents a share to its earnings for the current fiscal year.
