Liz Claiborne Inc today announced two new executive appointments with Trudy Sullivan taking the role of group marketing president and Helen McCluskey being appointed president, special markets group. Both appointments are effective August 1, 2001.

Ms Sullivan will be responsible for the Liz Claiborne Casual, Liz Claiborne Collection and Elisabeth ranges, effective August 1, 2001. Ms. Sullivan will report directly to Paul R. Charron, chairman and chief executive officer of Liz Claiborne Inc.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Charron said, "Trudy has an extensive background in marketing and merchandising. With her strong business sense and insight into consumer behavior, we are confident that her strengths, coupled with a talented management team, will be invaluable as we further grow the Liz Claiborne and Elisabeth businesses."

Ms. Sullivan joins Liz Claiborne from J. Crew Group, Inc where she was president. Previously, she held positions at The Avenue, Decelle, T. Deane and Filene's. She began her career as a buyer for Jordan Marsh.

Ms McCluskey joins Liz Claiborne from the Sara Lee Corporation where she was president of Playtex Apparel. She has had positions of increasing responsibility at Sara Lee since starting with the company as manager of distribution planning in 1983. She began her career at Firestone Tire & Rubber company as a member of the inventory management training program.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr Charron said: "Helen's knowledge and expertise in marketing and distribution within a variety of channels from mass merchandisers to better department stores will be instrumental as we grow our special markets division. We are confident she will have a positive impact on this increasingly important part of our business."
