US apparel manufacturer Liz Claiborne has opted not to comment on reports that the company is set to shed 10% of its workforce.

Liz Claiborne could cut 1,700 jobs as part of a strategic review of all positions across the company, according to the New York Post.

A further announcement from the company, which posted a 66% plunge in first-quarter profits as a result of wholesale business pressures, is expected in July.

A spokesperson for Liz Claiborne refused to comment on the report when contacted by just-style today (29 May).
